Bus Drivers And Officers Of Law In Annual Meet
A joint meeting of white school bus drivers and local law enforcement in Ouachita Parish was held at West Monroe High School to review traffic laws and safety devices. Monroe and West Monroe police along with state police met drivers twice yearly to discuss safety and bus defects since term began. A Negro bus drivers meeting is scheduled later, per the parish school board. Also, Stonewall Lodge No. 8 Knights of Pythias set a Feb 2 Castle Hall gathering to install new officers for 1956 with all officers urged to attend.

Cornelius Shear was a U S official delegate to the Pasteur Centennial in Paris in 1923 and to the International Botanical Congress in Cambridge England in 1930. He led the American Mycological Society in 1933 and held fellowships and editorial roles including Editor of the Asa Gray Bulletin and associate editor positions at Plant World and Mycologia.
