Thomason A-1 natural gas well of Natural Gas and Fuel Co. near Richland broke through its casing and roared yesterday afternoon, with the flow blowing around the casing. Efforts using pumps and gravel blast aimed to halt the heavy gas flow as officials from the minerals division watched. The well, completed Monday in section 26-16-6E, reported a daily capacity of 65,300,000 cubic feet, one of the largest in Richland's history. Continuous gas emission was heard over several miles around the site.

Mysterious burn death found near Illinois Central chute
A man's partially burned body was found near a camp fire in the jungles about 350 yards northeast of the Illinois Central coal chute.
