LSU economist outlines financing plan for $2.7 billion road program
Dr. William Ross of Louisiana State University presented a two year Automotive Safety Foundation study to the Legislative Road Committee proposing funding for a 2.7 billion 15 year road program. He outlined options including a 336 million bond issue, higher auto license fees, fuel taxes and other revenue shifts to be considered by May legislative session.

Heart Attack Fatal Claims Rev. O Leary at Loyola
Rev. William D. O Leary S J regent of Loyola University School of Dentistry and former Spring Hill College president died at 59 from a heart attack. He suffered the attack in his room as he prepared for a downtown meeting after mass and office visits. He was born in Augusta Georgia and held degrees from the University of Georgia and a 1921 medical degree. He practiced medicine in Boston and New York before joining the Jesuits in 1934. He served at St Charles College Grand Coteau from 1935 to 1956 then studied in Cleveland before leading Spring Hill College from 1938 to 1946 and Loyola starting 1946. He became regent of the dentistry school in 1947 and held multiple administrative posts including acting dean and faculty director of WWL. The funeral mass is set and a requiem will be heard 9:30 a.m. EST tomorrow at Loyola New Orleans.
