President elect Harding asks Congress for a special session after March 4 to confirm cabinet and appointments. He plans to issue the call after inauguration, with the session likely starting in late March or early April. The move follows standard practice during a change of administration.

Allen D Albert nationally known as a civic affairs expert arrived in Monroe from Jackson at 1 55 pm welcomed by local business leaders. He will tour Monroes business resources deliver talks on building the American city and meet with the city commission council as part of a three day study ending with a 6 30 pm dinner at the Chamber of Commerce where he will discuss overcoming local problems.

Ouachita parish police jury to launch effort for a new court house and larger jail in Ouachita city. President John M. Breard says the current jail is worse than useless and a new facility is timely, with the grand jury’s recommendation reinforcing the need. The proposal will be discussed at an upcoming jury meeting as the parish’s major agenda item.
Joan Pittman Floyd Whaley and Tobin Jackson were bound over to the federal grand jury in $300 sums each by U S Commissioner William O Kelly for alleged violations of the national prohibition law. They were captured near Mer Rouge and face charges tied to stills and liquor with differing statements of ownership and intent.

The tri state Rotary convention program for Louisiana Mississippi and Arkansas will be planned at a Vicksburg meeting of the program committee next Friday. Rev E K Means Monroe Rotary Club president and committee member will attend. About 300 delegates from the three states are expected with notable speakers and an important Hattiesburg gathering anticipated.
Fulton Farrow alias Walter Jackson, a Black man, is under arrest in Monroe on charges linked to a Memphis murder fifteen months ago. Memphis police say he is wanted for first degree murder and demand his return with proper requisition papers.
