Colorado ends its first year as a dry state with merchants reporting strong business and few problems. Denver, once filled with saloons, adapted to prohibition with fewer vacant properties, higher deposits, and reduced crime and jail populations.
Confessions tie Henry Waller to a Christmas Eve massacre in Minden Louisiana. John Reeves and his three children were slain with an ax during a gambling dispute. John Long and two African American men, Mark Petersen and Stewart, were forced into the attack. Waller claimed he planned and coerced others, while some defendants confessed to sheriffs in Caddo Parish. The case, a major North Louisiana crime, unfolds with multiple suspects. Army officers and civilians began a flight from Hempstead to League Island and Navy Yard Philadelphia today with twelve aeroplanes. As the aviators flew over Governors Island two more aeroplanes joined the squadron.
