A Kansas City Southern freight derailment near Goldonna Louisiana killed two crewmen and sparked a butane tank explosion. Fire crews and emergency workers evacuated about 500 residents, tracked down injured and missing, and secured multiple homes and businesses as investigators probe signals and crossing safety.
A log truck and train collision near Goldonna Natchitoches Parish killed two railroad workers and forced about 1000 residents to evacuate. Debris lined the tracks for 200 yards as fire consumed multiple buildings and a trailer. five houses burned and volunteers fought the blaze. Injured included Jones and Jack Easley. evacuees found shelter at local schools and churches.
Thursday brings occasional rain with a slow warming trend. High near 50, low 40s, upper 50s Friday. Gusty southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Rain probability 80 percent today, 60 tonight, 30 Friday.
