Wreck on Ark road in fog claims one life
In heavy drizzle fog on an Arkansas road eight miles west of West Monroe two cars collided head on at about 7 30 a m. Mrs Bertha Smith 49 died from a fractured skull and chest injuries. Driver Bobby Russell 23 was seriously injured with possible broken leg and jawbone. James Payne 16 suffered minor injuries and was released. The crash prompted a page twelve continuation.

Memphis AP reports the Federation for Constitutional Government formed a coordinating group to unite Southern preservation forces into a political front led by Sen. James Eastland and Atty. Gen. Eugene Cook. The 45 participants from 12 states endorsed Virginia proposed doctrine of interposition to challenge school desegregation rulings and potentially ignore Supreme Court decrees if not ratified by three fourths of states.

Watson Vocation School Instructor Dies at 57
Thomas B. Watson 57 of 4207 Harrison Street died early today at a local hospital from a heart attack. Funeral services planned for noon with Rev. Ralph Cain officiating and burial in Greensburg Cemetery Greensburg Louisiana. He was a Northwestern State College graduate and World War I veteran with Masonic and Yowa Lambda Sigma ties. Survived by wife Irma and three sons, a daughter, three sisters, and eight grandchildren.

A spokesman says the Dionne quintuplets intend to stay away from home to build a life of their own and will visit their parents in January. The sisters had planned a Callender Ontario visit for New Year’s, but their father Oliva Dionne claimed outsiders were pulling them from the family. The spokesman added the quints want a private life and would be giving in by returning home now. The four surviving quintuplets are involved.

$50 000 Paving Job To Start In Monroe March 1

Burglars Take Twenty Pistols From Hardware Store
City detectives reported that thieves broke into Star Hardware Co. on DeSiard Avenue through a sky light and carried off 20 pistols of various makes, 10 rings, a wrist watch, an electric shaver, two zipper bags, totaling 659.10 dollars.
