The building housed the Santa Barbara Distributing beer and soft drink bottling works.
In Kwajalein on December 26 a military commission sentenced Rear Admiral Shiga Matsu Sakaibara and Lt Commander Soich Tachibana to death for the October 7 1943 mass execution of 98 Pan American Airways workers on Wake Island. The panel condemned the killings as war crimes and noted Sakaibara ordered the act to prevent invasion forces.
