In Korea on Christmas Day Allied fighting men fought hard with air battles artillery duels and close combat. MIG15 incursions were repelled by Sabre jets as 75 Communist supply trucks and 50 battle targets were destroyed by Air Force and Marine units.

Two Bastrop residents Frances Dodd 22 and F A Dodd were treated for minor cuts and released after their car rear ended a 1952 International truck and trailer driven by Willie E Johnson stationed 9.7 miles east of Monroe on Highway 80 at 2 45 am. Driver James W Dodd 23 of Bastrop was cited in the collision. Earlier Wednesday night Alfred Levine 27 Newton Miss caused damage after hitting a mule on Highway 80 three point two miles east of Monroe. his 1951 Chevrolet was heavily damaged but he had no injuries.
