Louisiana prepares for a busy Christmas hunting period with bear and game in marshes hills farms and swamps. Quail dove snipe waterfowl and ducks offer varied opportunities as conservation reports note abundance and a hopeful season for hunters statewide.
The Louisiana Library commission backed by the Carnegie Foundation plans extend library services across parishes. Projects include 1000 volume parish loans, district information, club package libraries, and adult education support. Miss Culver will visit Monroe after January 1 to assess site for a 1000 book library.
Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge asserts it is the birthplace of the first Latin American collegiate Greek-letter fraternity in the United States. Founded in 1904 as Sociedad Hispano-Americano, it changed to the Sigma Iota name in 1911 and limits membership to Latin Americans. The organization now spans ten chapters and one alumni chapter, with seven active chapters among them.
