President-elect Jimmy Carter listed 11 cabinet candidates including Vance Blumenthal Bell Andrus Harris Adams and Califano and outlined energy policy leadership by John Schlesinger. He aims to place major energy functions under a single coordinator to draft a national energy policy and curb consumption and imports. Schlesinger, ex-Atomic Energy Commission chief, will coordinate energy programs.
The Louisiana attorney general's office will choose which of two conflicting opinions on whether supervisors in the two local systems may share proceeds from a sales tax, deciding the position the office will back. Dist. Atty. Johnny Carl Parkerson.
Washington AP reports a 200 page study by the Council on Wage and Price Stability says no direct incentives exist to curb health care costs, predicting a national health insurance plan would not help. It notes 92 percent of employee bills and 66 percent of doctor bills are paid by insurers or government, reducing individual pressure to seek lower prices.
In Washington AP report CIA knew ITT executive Harold Hendrix would testify falsely before a Senate subcommittee on U.S. actions in Chile. Hendrix pleaded guilty to withholding CIA ties and cooperates with a federal grand jury probing CIA and ITT officials for fraud and perjury related to Chile.
Goodfellows surpasses its $18,500 goal but needs about $4,200 more to cover remaining requests for aid in the Twin Cities area. Donations may be sent to News-Star-Morning World Publishing, 411 N. 4th St. Usable toys and clothing can be dropped at city recreation centers.
