A large crowd of voters heard Governor d. V. Oanderg at Sugar's Theatre where supporters greeted him with a friendly reception and applause.
Governor Jared Y. Sanders spoke at Sugar's Theatre in Monroe addressing voters in Ouachita Parish. The largely country audience heard Dawkins and Elder emphasize Democratic loyalty and criticize tariff policy while praising Sanders as a decisive, strong governor.
A general forecast indicates fair weather tonight and Thursday with cooler temperatures. No precipitation expected and temperatures easing across the region.
The Census Bureau issued its seventh report this morning noting 13,109,602 bases ginned through December 12. The figures reflect ongoing production activity and industry output in the sector.

Also noted a stray gobbler roaming near Mrs E C Drews residence on South Grand Street since Saturday.
Iron Mountain agriculture commissioner L. A. Markham has inquiries from Nicholas Smith of Great Bend Kansas about Arkansas drainage schemes. Smith plans to invest heavily in Arkansas land, and R. Van Tries of Monroe Louisiana expresses interest as well.
Washington dispatch reports Taft sending a special message to Congress urging a substantial reduction in the tariff on wool and woolens. The Agriculture Department final estimate shows eleven principal farm crops total value at 3.7696 billion dollars, up about 190 million from last year, with mixed changes in acreage, production, and value across crops including corn, wheat, oats, rye, potatoes, hay, and tobacco.
In New Orleans the Sixth Ward Democrats packed Portuguese Hall for a mass meeting in support of governor candidate John T. Michel. Estimates put attendance between 700 and 800 as torches and band music accompanied speeches by Major T. M. Bankston Judge G. H. Couvillion and others.
