In Memphis a tinner Adam Boehler barricaded in a rooming house after attacking his wife with a razor. Police officer Jesse Wooten seriously wounded and another officer Charles Davis lightly hurt. A child, four, witnessed the tragedy as Boehler fired through the door and police returned fire.
In Memphis Tennessee Adam J Boehler who commanded a fifty strong police squad at bay for eight hours was killed when city detectives forced entry into his stronghold. Boehler had become partially overcome by fumes from formaldehyde pumped into the room through holes in the wall and floor.
Fifty Eastern railroads through their managers propose settling disputes if firemen waive demand for two firemen on heavy locomotive trips. Elisha Lee said a conference with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen yielded an offer to match engineer arbitration terms and adjust wages and conditions if the two-man demand is waived.
