Paris reports President Wilson impressed by a warm Paris reception and French public support for his principles. Officials say no conflict with French government is expected and no issue with policy is anticipated.
Armand Arsene Renaud a longtime Monroe resident and former chief of the Ouachita Fire Company died at 10 20 this morning after a brief illness. Born in New Orleans in 1859 he moved to Ouachita parish in 1881 and later settled in Monroe where he ran a grocery business and served civic causes. He leaves his wife Celine Nicollet and nine children eight living with several in the service of the United States Army or in the American Expeditionary Forces. Funeral plans await word from his daughters.
Samuel Untermyer of New York testified before the Senate investigating committee in Washington amid questions about alleged pro German sympathies before March 1916. He denied being asked to act as counsel for the German embassy and rejected the insinuations as baseless.
President Wilson endorsed Secretary Redfield's recommendation to attach a business advisory to American legations and embassies as part of efforts to aid American manufacturers and merchants in the campaign for foreign trade after the war.

Wrecker moved overturned coaches from Calhoun to Monroe for repairs.
Winnipeg reports a tourist coach fire on the Canadian Pacific train bound for Toronto. Thirteen passengers are reported missing after the blaze.
