Area County Agent Dies Rites Today
Claude Taylor aged 48 Franklin Parish County Agent died at his Winnsboro residence after a two year illness. Funeral services were held in Winnsboro Temple Baptist Church and in Jena Fellowship Baptist Church with burial at Belah Cemetery near Jena. A native of Jena he served as associate county agent from 1952 before becoming county agent in 1960. He was U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and held degrees from USL and LSU. Survived by widow Myrtle, daughter Dianne, son Duane, his mother, four brothers and six sisters.

Airliner narrowly misses bomber over Lake Charles
An Eastern Air Lines jet carrying four aboard reported missing a collision with a B47 bomber by about 100 feet Friday over Lake Charles.
