A noon street gun battle in Murfreesboro Tennessee followed the shooting of two policemen the assailant a Negro was cornered in a house as 150 to 200 whites gathered two other people were wounded around midday Sheriff Earl Knight and Fire Chief Buck Qualls were hit by shotgun pellets as the shooting continued near the house.

Missing deer hunter found dead in Tensas Bottoms
