A strong cold wave reached deep into the South on December 14 as snow fell in Tennessee and northern Alabama. Knoxville reported four inches of snow, power outages occurred in parts of north Alabama, and Washington saw sleet as cold air moved south toward Florida with temp rises expected tomorrow.
Relief parties in the search for missing persons in the New Mexico and West Texas blizzard were aided by mild weather in El Paso. Temperatures 38 overnight, 17 previously, as six more bodies were recovered, raising U S South West toll to twelve. Among the dead were five Mexican family members and a sheep herder in Guadalupe county New Mexico, and six members of another family were moved to Capitan New Mexico.

Coast guardsmen continued search for American aviator Lawrence B. Sperry after his airplane was found in the English Channel three miles off Rye. The incident occurred late yesterday prompting a full rescue effort.
Mrs. Winifred Sperry, of Hempstead, New York, remains hopeful that her husband, aviator Lawrence B. Sorry, will be found by searchers despite the discovery yesterday of his wrecked plane in the English Channel.

An intimate friend attributes the Bayona Truss Company scheme to a 1910 Koretz swindle. Promoter promised timber concessions in Panama. Koretz invested $10,000 and the promoter vanished. Koretz sought the man in Panama and built his Bayano venture. Assets found include three mortgaged Arkansas farms and a rice company. An airplane tied to Koretz was identified as piloted by W. W. Meyers for William Aronson. Koretz had extended his North Shore lease to 1982.
Berlin reports say German press welcomes America’s potential role in reparations discussions though unofficial, predicting American experts will influence the committee’s conclusions. In China, bandits led by Chen Yen Teh and Wang Han Ying seized Chahow, looting homes and abducting officials, with the magistrate killed after capture.
Berlin cable from President Ebert thanks Major General Henry T. Allen for aiding hungry German children. In Lambert Mississippi a farmer James Butts, 45, was shot and killed by town marshal H M Omar who surrendered claiming self defense.

Reports from Mexico City say President Alvaro Obregon leads federal troops marching on Guadalajara held by revolutionists. Generals Amara and Amarillo command the attacking column with strong morale as fighting intensifies along the route to Mexico City. At El Paso, rebels under General Jose Villanueva are reported to have captured Oriental station and engage Obregon forces near San Marcos.
