INDIANAPOLIS AP The estranged parents of a 14 year old boy were found dead in separate homes after a quarrel overheard by neighbors over money for Christmas gifts. Friedrich Forbbis about 40 and Nina Forbis about 22 are suspected of suicide and murder. A neighbor said Nina argued Fred refused to fund presents. Dennis, the boy, was away from home at the time.

Two boys rescued after 26 hours in freezing tool chest
Cambridge police report John Madison aged 11 and John Lasofsky aged 6 were confined in a large tool chest for 26 hours in subfreezing conditions. Their cries were heard yesterday and rescuers freed them as the lid latched shut. Neither boy needed medical treatment.

Monroe Day at the Alexandria Veterans Administration Hospital drew the largest crowd yet for a patient entertainment program. The Monroe Little Theatre presented My Three Angels with the Gray Ladies Red Cross and VFW auxiliary volunteers assisting. Dr. P A Waters praised the turnout and the hospital staff noted 110 attendees walking and in wards, plus fruit nuts and presents distributed to ambulatory patients during intermissions.
