Monroe Council To Act Tuesday On Hanger Lease

Katharine Ann Haynes 28, mother of four, was acquitted by reason of insanity for the July 19 killing of Nancy Penton 19. She was committed to St Elizabeths Hospital and today released by Chief Judge Bolitha J. Laws after psychiatrists said she is of sound mind.

Famed Jungle Fighter Maj. Gen. Merrill Dies of Heart Attack

Maj. Gen. Frank D. Merrill 53 longtime New Hampshire public works official and World War II jungle fighter died in a Florida motel from a heart attack. Ville Platte Bar Owner Killed by Prowler

Evangeline Parish sheriff reports 75-year-old Patrick Duffy Martin was shot in his Ville Platte home after a prowler waited for him. The bar owner was robbed of 1500 dollars. sons found the body. State police were asked to assist in the investigation.
