President Nixon will seek extension of the economic stabilization law and maintain wage price controls. Treasury Secretary George Shultz says a freeze on executive pay and a hiring and promotion ban will last into 1973, with federal spending held at 250 billion.

Gov. Edwin Edwards announced a first of its kind regional airport to serve New Orleans and Baton Rouge with six potential sites under study. He cited a 1990 projection of 19 million passengers and noted federal funds and a state plan to guide highway and economic growth while coordinating with a smaller Baton Rouge airport proposal.

They planned three seven hour excursions from the Challenger to assemble a nuclear powered science station and probe gravity waves and subterranean water. Ronald Evans remained aboard the command ship America to map the surface as the trio prepared to begin exploration.
Saigon reports include 300 more U.S. troops withdrawn last week leaving 25,200 American servicemen in Vietnam the lowest since 1965. Allied troop levels dropped 800 to 37,200 as Korea began its withdrawal.
