Sheridan teacher found murdered in her car
Miss Flossie Carter, 27, a Sheridan school teacher, was found beaten to death in her small coupe along a quiet road. Authorities say she was attacked with an axe, with marks on the throat and face, and her clothing torn. The body was discovered by 14-year-old hiker Ray Collier yesterday evening.

A note reading I did this myself is thought to be a slayer’s attempt to mislead investigators. 19 year old Oliver College student Lee Bracy, engaged to Miss Carter, was questioned after she disappeared Friday night and found dead. Bracy said he was at the college when she left Sheridan, four miles from home. Police and sheriff’s officers consider the note a crude diversion and question Bracy and witness Young Collier in the inquest. The car showed a struggle. the victim likely felled by someone in the driver’s seat, suggesting an acquaintance.

Dress Fire Claims Bastrop Woman in Accident
