A threatening letter printed in ink, dated December 6 from McComb Miss, warned Gov. Bilbo to spare Lofton or face shipment to a snowless area. Bilbo dismissed the threat, quipping that he never liked cold weather. Lofton, condemned for the 1926 police officer slaying, has four reprieves, the latest set to expire December 14. The governor, in Hattiesburg and Poplarville for rest, was accompanied by Dr. Willis Walley.
