Army to Demobilize 20000 Guardsmen Five Months Early
The Army will release about 20,000 National Guardsmen and reservists from active duty about five months early and increase draft calls to replace them. Roughly half of mobilized personnel will return by Oct 31, 1969 and the other 10,000 by Dec 15, 1969, with draft calls rising to about 3,000 per month to maintain readiness. A Vietnam settlement could speed demobilization and allow earlier releases for Reserve members and Guardsmen.
