In Baton Rouge early today a pistol duel at a suburban restaurant left Leslie Banker dead and owner J B Spears seriously wounded. Banker reportedly drew on Spears after entering the eatery. both men fired until their magazines were empty. Spears survived and recover. Banker had a peace disturbance court record. no charges were filed.

Boy Dies During High School Basketball Game
Cecil Cook a 19 year old Simsboro High student collapsed during a basketball game between Simsboro and Bienville high schools in Bienville. He died within a minute after falling to the floor and is believed to have suffered a heart attack caused by over exertion. He is survived by his mother, father, a brother and a sister. Funeral services were set for 3 pm today.
