President elect Dwight Eisenhower met 125 press corps in Seoul at the Eighth Army war room and refused questions after a ten minute briefing. He said he would study the situation and provide no quick moves to end the Korean War, disappointing many reporters who awaited further remarks.
Urgency rises as Good Fellows seeks funds to reach 4000 dollars by December 24. Donations from Brown Paper Mill and others help amid rising requests for aid. Letters describe families facing foreclosure and illness with no Christmas relief without public contributions.

Judge Jesse Heard in Fourth District Court sentenced Walter L. Hobarth to three years in Angola State Penitentiary after a guilty plea to theft. Hobarth was arrested November 24 by Ouachita Parish sheriff. Several others pled guilty to DUI with $200 fines and 60 days in jail. two pled not guilty. Cases set for January with more minor matters planned.
United Nations Secretary General Trygve Lie dismissed nine American staff members for refusing to answer McCarran Committee questions on Communist affiliations. The action brings total 1952 dismissals to 18. Lie warned 3,000 staff they face similar fate if they refuse to answer.
A citizens committee formed to address the lack of proper facilities for juveniles in custody announced plans to push the issue with the state youth commission. The group coordinates with city and Parish officials after two girls aged 13 and 14 were kept in parish jail for nearly a week. they seek dedicated juvenile detention quarters separate from the jail and urge public support for proper facilities in Twin Cities and Ouachita Parish.
The Salvation Army begins its 1952 Christmas fundraising with kettles on Saturday in Monroe. The Pilot Club starts the ringing at three sites the Woolworth store, Central Savings Bank, and the post office to urge public donations for needy children this season.
David I. Barron faces a three to five year term after a Rabun County jury found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of his wife Helen Barron. The trial followed claims he harmed her during an argument at their Clayton camp, with Barron denying responsibility in an unsworn statement.
Slade Brown of Monroe and six fellow Monroe men met for an hour and a half with Brig. Gen. Stanley Wray in the Pentagon to discuss the proposed reactivation of Selman Field. Brown said the talks were interesting and that details previously known only to supporters of reactivation were discussed.
In Natchez Mississippi a Burr relative rejects treason charges against Aaron Burr. Samuel Burr of the American University in Washington says Burr was misinterpreted and maligned and that trial histories fail to prove treason. He calls Burr a whipping boy whose alleged plot to carve an empire is unsubstantiated.
New York witnesses at dockside hearings allege shipping firms tolerate theft and padded payrolls to avert labor strife. Grace Line supervisor Thomas Maher testified a phantom employee shifted wages to an ex convict, with public figure Tim O Mara linked to over 25 000 in pay for a non existent worker named Edward Joseph Ross.
A Monroe SSA representative will tour northeast Louisiana in early 1953 to assist wage earners and families in filing claims and obtaining account numbers, wage credits and insurance information. In MCCOMB Mississippi a 76 year old widow, Irene Barron, was found shot in her rocking chair with crochet in her lap. A coroner's jury ruled death from shotgun wounds related to personal safety. Her daughter in law discovered the body during a Thursday visit.
An Edgerly oil field worker died and a second man was seriously injured when a derrick collapsed at an oil rig in Calcasieu Parish near Lake Charles. A fourth worker sustained injuries, while another escaped unharmed.
