Speed Flier Bayles Killed In World Speed Attempt
Detroit report says Lowell R. Bayles of Springfield Massachusetts died when his plane crashed during a land speed record attempt at Wayne County Airport. He had reached 281.9 miles per hour earlier in the week and was on the first lap of a fourth run when a cross wind or loss of control caused the craft to dive and flip. The crash hurled the burning engine and pilot clear of the wreckage.

Lynching and Burnings in Salisbury Court Yard
In Salisbury Maryland a mob of about 2000 men seized Mack Williams 35 from a hospital bed and hanged him in the courthouse yard then burned his body after he killed Daniel J Elliott the elder. State officials planned action after talks with the sheriff as Governor Ritchie moved to Baltimore to probe the affair. Williams had survived initial wounds believed self inflicted and those from Elliott Jr. before the mob seized him. The crowd's lynching followed loud calls to punish Williams.

Plan election for two local chambers of commerce boards

Ten names will appear on the senior final ballot from which five will be elected, and eleven names for the junior board with all final ballots due by December 31. Hit and run driver injures man on DeSiard Street
