C T Woodson known as Blondy Woodson of Monroe admits he forced a train to stop and robbed passengers with two guns but did not fire or enter the mail car. Doyle Hagar a 24 year old clerk at Central pharmacy 147 DeSiard street identified C T Woodson as the man who flashed a gun during a drug store robbery and later on a train hold up. Hagar described Woodson’s threats and boasts as he bought a cigar and prepared to leave. He hid three ten dollar bills and two rings in his shoes during the incident.
The Scotia, a Breece Lumber pilot boat from Union parish, sank in 18 feet of water off G R B Cooley's private landing on the Ouachita river yesterday at 5 o'clock while towing empty lumber barges northbound. Ten crew aboard under Captain L H Swayze escaped drowning and were rescued by Ma l boats belonging to Dr B M McKain and Fred Stovall after the boat struck a snag near Texas avenue.
Ten people die when a hydro airliner carrying a reception party for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont crashes in a bay near Rio de Janeiro. Victims include Professors Tobias Moscoso and Antonio Amoroso Costa, Deputies Ferdinando Labouriau and Amaury De Mediros, Dr. Paulo Castro Maia, a Journel do Brazil representative and spouse, two pilots, and a mechanic.
Clyde T Woodson the 25 year old Monroe bricklayer admitted the hold up of Illinois Central passenger train No 203 at Forksville 15 miles west of Monroe. He pleaded guilty at district court before Judge Percy Sander receiving a sentence of six to nine years and was handed to deputies for federal arraignment on additional charges.
A preliminary hearing for C. T. Blondy Woodson was held before U S Commissioner H M Eshelman at city hall. Bond set at 10000 on the federal charge of pilfering the U S mails. Woodson faces a potential federal sentence of up to 25 years and may begin a state term of 6 to 9 years before possible federal return. Seven registered letters found near the hold up site. two of nine missing packages recovered. Sheriff says no additional currency or jewelry found.
