Constitutional reform debate shapes Louisiana judiciary plan
In a discussion led by Martin, proposals for reorganizing Louisiana's judiciary are debated, including restoring earlier structures, requiring parish judges to meet district judge qualifications, reducing districts, abolishing justices of the peace, and boosting district attorney salaries. He rejects life appointments, favors elected four-year terms, and cites impeachment risks and docket backlogs. The piece weaves in later fiction and calendar notes, including a sports listing and a Monroe reference.
