Concordia Forest Fire Rages Southwest Toward Savannahs
Concordia parish forest fire in the Cocodrie swamp has burned about 30 acres and moves southwest toward the wetlands. Deputy Sheriff W C Garrett says firefighters have not yet entered the blaze, as R A Graham estimates two to three hundred men would be needed to check it. The fire started when wind fanned a grass fire three days ago near Deer Park, twelve miles south of Vidalia, with Mississippi and Black rivers guiding the span.

In Crowville Louisiana a 31 year old farmer Willie Eddards Greer shot himself shortly after his 31st birthday, days after grieving over his four year old son Carroll Ray who had accidentally killed his brother William Lavelle, 4, in September during a hunter and squirrel game.
