Memphis December 1 E L Hendry former president of the All Night and Day Bank and J H Brooks a director appeared in Criminal Court with eight negro malefactors and one white suspect. They pled not guilty and were remanded to jail. Receiver Frayzer declined to comment on claims Bank of Mize would not join in prosecutions after repayment. The American Trust Company allegedly repaid depositors, while the All Night and Day Bank vanished leaving nine thousand dollars to be pursued.
Richmond dispatch reports an outline of a private confession said to be by Henry Clay Beattie Jr. He allegedly planned to kill his wife two weeks before the crime, firing as she stepped from a car and causing her to fall in the road. He denies knocking her down or sitting on her body, and cites a loveless marriage forced by his father’s wishes.
