A train carrying seven thousand pounds of dynamite derailed at Pinole California and exploded today killing three trainmen. The wreck left nothing of the train intact and caused widespread damage in the area.
New Orleans officials examined wreckage brought from the Gulf of Mexico by the steamer Surnnime and could not positively identify it as part of the missing steamer Marowijne. They will compare the debris with portions of Marowijne’s sister ship Coppename and decide later. Vice President Ellis said he inclined to believe the wreckage was from Marowijne, with a slim chance some aboard were rescued by another vessel.

Attorney T H McGregor assists the State for landowners while N P Norman represents the homesteaders. 2500 to 3000 acres are involved as the cases hinge on whether the land is swamp and unfit for cultivation without embankment.
