Baton Rouge Aug 30 The machinery to cancel a proposed constitutional convention vote for Louisiana will be set in motion in days though Gov Earl Long is in Colorado on doctors orders. If he does not return Lt Gov Dodd would call the legislature into session. Long expects to be away about two weeks and says he plans to stay out of newspapers. The legislature must cancel the Nov 7 vote by resolution or new law. Long cites poor health and wartime strain as reasons. A telegram from Dr Robert Bernhard cautions against political activity. The governor’s plan faced opposition over extending terms for officials. A nonbinding resolution urged the convention to submit the issue to a public vote.
