Donaldsonville will host a meeting of leading men with John T. Michel attending as keynote at a major rally. The event signals community unity and political outreach in the parish seat.
About 100 supporters in Donaldsonville gathered at the Parish Courthouse to launch Michel's gubernatorial campaign with a Sept. 16 mass meeting. A nine member campaign committee was named along with a resolutions group praising Michel and pledging energetic support. The Riverside Club and local leaders attended amid enthusiastic cheers.

Susan Reichart daughter of Christian and Mary Reichart of this village died after a rose thorn scratch on her finger led to blood poisoning. The incident occurred after she visited her mother’s grave in Sterling Cemetery on August 1. She was to be married next month to Victor Rawling. she was thirty.
Chicago August 30 W L Park vice president of the Illinois Central Railroad said the company will meet accredited representatives with whom it has contracts and will not deal with the federated shop employees. A Little Rock and Monroe passenger train left Monroe thirty minutes late and wrecked near Sterlington at 4 PM. Charleston August 30. Seventeen year old wireless operator Sheesley kept sending C D Q calls as the Lexington with forty four aboard battled twenty four hours of hurricane seas off Hunting Island. A wave wrecked the wireless station but Sheesley fixed it from the rigging and relayed aid from the Yamacraw. The Lexington likely a total loss and the Malcomb Leavy schooner perished with only one survivor.
