The Newsa Star announces W. W. Boxley as a candidate for City Marshal of Monroe city. The nomination is subject to the Democratic primary election process.
The Baton Rouge sale of 44 registered beef cattle at University Station end results show 35 head added to Louisiana herds. West Feliciana Parish led buyers with seven head. East Feliciana and Assumption each took five. others received four to three. Demonstration agents assisted buyers. J A Simms called the sale satisfactory though some animals sold cheaply.
University Station Louisiana State University bacteriologist Harry Morris reports non biting insects such as the house fly and blue bottle fly may spread anthrax. Findings in Louisiana Bulletin 168 stress prompt destruction of anthrax carcasses and warn against opening swellings or inadequate protection during outbreaks.
Berlin reports five million Germans have filed with the central immigration bureau for permission to leave the country. The bulk intend to move to South America and many also seek settlement in Palestine.

Elbert H Gary chairman of United States Steel Corp declined to meet John Fitzpatrick and AFL representatives who were appointed to organize iron and steel workers.
The Rhode Island Suffrage Party plans to organize a vigilance committee of 100 women voters to monitor government performance. It proposes that committee members may freely join any political group or campaign as part of their duty.
Washington reports the resignation of Dr. Paul Lo Reipach as American ambassador to China. White House officials said he asked to be relieved of his duties due to ill health and his wish to return to private life.
