Keokuk Iowa August 26 The Mississippi River dam and power plant were formally dedicated marking a major engineering feat. The structure spans the river from Keokuk Iowa to Hamilton Illinois a distance nearly a mile long and took about three years to build with a cost exceeding 25 million dollars. It will generate electricity to be supplied to the region.
Across the Mississippi a grand lighting dedication drew spectators as parades and speech programs unfolded on both sides of the river.
