Monroe Chamber endorses city paving plan and bond use
The Junior Board of Directors of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce backed the idea that property owners pay for paving and that the city use a $490,000 bond issue for intersections and paving work. They will circulate petitions to obtain signers on streets to be paved and seek bids as Illinois Saving Company plans an investigation. A creamery proposal, to form Central Creamery Company with $15,000 capital, was also endorsed by the junior board.

Dixie Bedding Fire Damages Monroe Warehouse and Fires
The Dixie Bedding Company warehouse on Washington street suffered extensive damage when a fire destroyed a large textile machine worth about $5,000 and burned other materials. Monroe fire crews also responded to a roof fire at an Italian grocery and another roof blaze on Louisiana avenue in Newtown.

Carpenter Killed by Wife in Nashville Tragedy
