Slow July Inflation Marks Six Month Low
U S government data show July consumer prices up two tenths of one percent the smallest rise in six months amid wage and price controls. Clothing and transportation eased while food housing and medical care rose. Per year inflation ran 3.1 percent for groceries 4.4 percent for housing 6.6 percent for medical care and 5.4 percent for transportation. The dollar’s value compared with 1967 stood at 82.1 cents.
