J W Warren says most losses expect to be recouped by year end as business rebounds especially long distance calls. Directories are being distributed door to door.
The former Marguerite Clark of silent film fame, Mrs Harry P Williams, sold her St Charles avenue mansion in New Orleans for about $100,000 to an unnamed buyer. The showplace located on an entire city block in the exclusive residential district was sought as Mrs Williams plans a smaller home after her husband, a millionaire aviation enthusiast, was killed in a recent air crash.
Martin Moore a 22 year old former Battery Park hotel hall boy faced trial in Asheville N C for the murder of Helen Clevenger in her hotel room. His lawyers declined to discuss defense plans and reports say they may challenge his confession as coerced and possibly seek a sanity hearing.
J N Jones sixty of Bonita a respected Morehouse parish planter and merchant died after his car left the Met Rouge Bastrop road while returning from Baton Rouge. He suffered a brain concussion and serious injuries. Passenger J F Harp was hurt but not seriously. A surveying party found the wreck and took the men to Bastrop where Jones died shortly after 11 oclock. He is survived by his wife a daughter Virginia Rose a brother M E Jones of Bastrop and three sisters Mrs Williams Swartz Mrs W J Peters Bastrop and Mrs R Maxwell Bonita.
Coroner C. Grenes Cole said Mrs. Helen B. Prout a 36 year old verse writer and book reviewer for a Florida newspaper committed death by her own action yesterday by swallowing poison. Police said she had been here about two years with her two daughters. She was divorced from her husband they said.

In Lamar Colorado on August 19 the presidents drought committee toured through Colorado and Kansas dragging dust and rain behind them. Farmers questioned how help would come and Morris L Cooke said the group would gather data to inform decisions. Delegations from Southeastern Colorado and Garden City Kansas pressed for a visit to the Caddo dam site on the Arkansas river to irrigate land east of Lamar into Kansas. Cooke cited a tight schedule preventing the side trip.
Mrs. Della Rinehart Frazer 64, widow of Thomas Nathan Frazer, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital after a year of ill health. A brief service will be held at her son Harry G Frazer’s home 103 Rochelle at 8:45 p.m. then he body will depart on the 9:45 train to Corinth Mississippi for interment Thursday. Survived by two sons Thomas Frazer and Harry G Frazer of Monroe, one daughter Mrs. Doris Langston of Tupelo, and three grandchildren. She was born in Rienza Mississippi and was a member of the First Methodist church.
