A barbecue supper hosted by Mrs. H. R. Speed and Mr. John Madison on Pine street lawn honored Miss Bess Duncan during her visit to Monroe. About twenty five guests attended, enjoying flowering shrubs and greenery as part of a relaxed gathering.
Miss Ellie Mae Banister daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Banister and Mr W G Jordon of New Orleans were married Thursday morning at nine o'clock. Rev J Brooks officiated at the bride's parents home. Reception decor featured talisman roses and waxen tapers. They left for Hot Springs Ark for their honeymoon and will reside in Little Rock. Out of town guests included Miss Helen Gray Marion Miss Powell Marion Mr and Mrs John Jordon and Mr Ivy Jordon of New Orleans.

The program included music readings and a sermon by Rev Jesse Allen with leadership by Mrs H L McClanahan and mistress of ceremonies Mrs Ennette Morris. Little friends celebrated Betty Jo Campton’s fourth birthday with games and treats in the afternoon.
