Governor Parker Meets Ku Klux Klan On Train in Baton Rouge
In a tense yet good natured encounter in Center Ville Mississippi the Ku Klux Klan halted the Bumble Bee train from Vicksburg to Baton Rouge and confronted Governor Parker asking for his view of the group. The governor urged them to remove masks and spoke frankly about the Klan and its secrecy. Many Klansmen, some known to him, later greeted him and boarded three coaches as guards.
