In Rio de Janeiro a Pan American two motor airliner fell at Cobras Island harbor injuring many and killing fourteen aboard including Yale economist Professor James Harvey Rogers and other Americans. Only two of the 18 aboard survived. one crew member and a passenger. The plane broke in two and crashed near a drydock after descending from Miami in clear weather.
