Well known West Monroe Resident Dies
Carey Holmes, 67, of 220 Haynes Street West Monroe, died today at St Francis Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services set for 2 30 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church West Monroe with Dr Clifton Tennison officiating. Burial in Hasley Cemetery West Monroe under Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Monroe. Survived by widow Leta Holmes two foster daughters Dorothy Scott and Johnny Adams a sister Florence Goodwin. Mrs Holmes led nursery business in Northeast Louisiana. Memorials preferred to charity. Deacons of First Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

Police identified Joseph Davis as the suspect in a slaying earlier in New Haven. He opened fire in a Winchester Gun Club dining hall, wounding two men and two women before a gun duel with Sgt.
