Monroe man dies in Arizona highway crash
Reuel C. Leggett 29 of Monroe Louisiana was killed when his car skidded on rain slicked US 66 near Holbrook Arizona. Leggett worked for a California construction firm and was en route to pick up his wife Mae to return to California. He previously lived in Monroe six years and is survived by his parents two brothers and a sister. Funeral plans were incomplete. his body would go to Monroe or Natchitoches. Several others were severely injured in the other car.

James H. Hall, 65, of 213 Oaklawn Street, Ouachita Parish, died from a self inflicted .22 caliber rifle shot early today. Coroner J T French said Hall, despondent since retirement April 25 after 21 years at Olin Mathieson Paper Mill, was discovered by his daughter Louise Hart when entering the bathroom. He was a carpenter by trade.
