Farmers plan grain elevator for Richland parish

Richland parish farmers and Rayville businessmen plot a grain elevator to store surplus corn and oats and sell at market, forming a stock company with large capitalization. Shoestring Well May Prove Big Producer in El Dorado

Railroad men including a West Monroe conductor back a promising El Dorado field well. Drilled on the smallest lease, the Shoestring Well is estimated at 5,000 barrels with a five-eighths inch choke, potentially 20,000 barrels if fully opened. The lease belongs to W B and C C Landrum, part of a two and a half acre tract in section 17 18 15, with the well boiling for 75 minutes before oil spilled down the hillside. The Legion Oil Company driller and others judge this to be a better well than the Legion, one of the field’s best. Continued on page three.

H A Johnson and C G Baker of Morris trustee Bas trop are in St Francis sanitarium Monroe with painful burns after a gas explosion at a syndicate well near Bastrop. Two to three others were nearby and burned but not seriously. A match lit near a leaking pipeline caused the blast.

Fair Board to Fix Up Budget at Session in City Tomorrow

The North Louisiana Fair Association board meets at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce to set the budget for Calhoun’s fair on October 19 to 21.
