Mrs Aby killed at Second Street crossing by engine No 381
Mrs. R. C. Aby, 60, of 414 Grammont street, was killed instantly when Vicksburg Shreveport Pacific engine No. 381 struck her at the Second street crossing as she crossed the tracks toward DeSiard street at 9 30 this morning. The body was mutilated and dragged several feet before stopping, witnesses say the engineer did not see her. The fireman heard the noise and stopped the engine, but too late. A large crowd gathered, and officials noted the crossing is under repair, with calls for its removal. The coroner and Dr Gray were delayed reaching the scene.
