Baton Rouge August 7 Advocates of special parochial and municipal taxes such as school drainage and levee taxes have pressed the tax revision commission. The first homing pigeon from a 1000 mile flight started in New Orleans arrived in Baltimore on Monday afternoon. Owner John L. Gorman of 45 South Arlington Avenue belongs to Belmont district of the Baltimore Concourse Association which sponsored the event. The bird completed eleven days twenty three and three quarter hours in the air, close to the record but not yet surpassed. Bad winds hindered progress and if conditions were normal in the South a new world record might have been set.
Gov. Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey was officially informed of his nomination by Senator-Elect Ollie James at Seagirt on August 7. Prominent Democrats attended as Wilson called for broader public counsel, tariff revision, and measures to curb trusts while pursuing conservation and national development.

Associated Press reports in New Augusta Mississippi that a mob threatened to lynch C. W. Blackwell a sixty year old merchant charged with assault on an eleven year old girl. A heavy jail guard kept watch overnight and Sheriff Bearman expects no violence as the town remains quiet.
Henry W. Allen Camp held its regular meeting at 10 o clock in the courthouse with many veterans present to elect officers. Delegates J G Boutz J G Sandidge and J H McCormick were chosen with alternates A Myatt EF H Brooks and T Hamilton. Two members died since last meeting and two new members joined from Rayville. Officers serving nineteen years were re elected. A one mill constitutional amendment was discussed and a committee of Everett Myatt and Peevy tasked to press newspaper support. Comrade EF H Bills was reported very low at Hot Springs.
St Louis Missouri August 7 William 5 Cowherd of Kansas City appears to have won the Democratic nomination for governor over Elliott W Major in yesterday's primary by about ten thousand votes. John C McKinley former lieutenant governor seems set to be Republican nominee.
