Worden Makes Historic Deep Space Walk From Apollo 15

Astronaut Alfred Worden performed the first deep space walk 200000 miles from Earth, stepping into vacuum for 18 minutes to retrieve film canisters and inspect equipment. Worden rode a 25 foot lifeline with James Irwin guiding the hose as David Scott monitored from Endeavour orbit. The EVA produced clear TV images and yielded data from the camera bay before the crew headed home toward a Pacific splashdown.

SAS Denies Plan to Fly 187 POWs from Laos to Rome

Doctors urged to cut X ray use nationwide

Public Health Service with the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology issued a booklet to 300000 doctors and medical students urging voluntary reduction of X ray examinations. It notes up to two thirds of current exposure may be unnecessary and stresses benefit must clearly outweigh hazard.
