Mrs Meyer dies after lingering illness at 81

Mrs Anna Meyer wife of the late Herman Meyer died at her home after a months long illness. An 81 year old native of Galveston Texas she had lived in Monroe for sixty years. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 4 PM from her Jackson street home with burial in the Jewish cemetery.

Bashore Receives Six to Nine Month Penitentiary Term

J M Bashore a Texarkana carpenter was sentenced by Judge Fred M Odom in the Sixth District court Monroe to not less than six months nor more than nine months in the Louisiana state penitentiary for obtaining money under false pretenses. He passed two worthless checks at Monroe for 20 and 12 75 on Bradley Hardware and Lynch stores. He was arrested by Texarkana Ark police chief and brought to Monroe. he will be moved to the penitentiary in a few days.

Arkansas and Louisiana Highway Association Planned in Monroe

The Arkansas and Louisiana Highway Association will organize at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce tomorrow at 11 am. Delegates from Dermott Pine Bluff and Little Rock and other Arkansas towns will attend with five or six Louisiana parishes likely to participate. The plan promotes a scenic Little Rock to Alexandria route via Monroe along the Missouri Pacific line to attract motorists and tourists from the north.

Johnny Rees Elected Officers for Local Camp This Year

Henry W. Allen Camp No. 182 United Confederate Veterans elected officers at the courthouse for the ensuing year. Commander W. P. Renwick and leaders including H. C. Downs L. N. Polk I. Hamilton and others were named. New member J. W. Portis joined from West Carroll parish. Platt and Downs were tasked to seek city and Ouachita police jury support for transportation to the Houston reunion on May 5 to 7.
