Baton Rouge AP Louisiana State University canceled a talk by Wade Mackie regional director of a Quaker group after university officials refused the law school auditorium invitation. Christine Ward near death as overdose worsens condition

Dr Stephen Ward, 50, hospitalized at St Stephen's after an overdose and bronchial pneumonia left him comatose and slipping toward death. JFK Adviser Pleads Guilty On Tax Count

James M. Landis, former Harvard Law School dean and Kennedy adviser, pleaded guilty in federal court to five counts of late filing and payment of income taxes for 1956 to 1960. He cited public duties and inherited securities sales to meet a family need. Sentencing set for Aug. 30. he had filed the returns and paid due taxes, and offered full cooperation.

Selman Airport Terminal Plans Approved in Monroe

Monroe city officials approved the architects Johns and Neel plan for a new terminal at Selman Field as part of an 11.5 million capital program. The design includes 16,800 square feet on the ground floor, a folded plate roof, a mezzanine, four plane positions, and a covered walkway to the airplanes next to a new control tower with parking and better airline space. Bids expected around October 1.

Fifteen Soldiers Injured In Ft Dix Road Collision

Two Die Five Hurt In Hammond Three Car Crash

In Hammond Louisiana a three car crash three miles east of the city last night killed two women from Scotlandville identified as Mabel Bradford 41 and Eliza Herbert 44. Adrian Calmes 37 of Baton Rouge the driver of another car tried to pass illegally on a curve and faces negligent homicide and improper passing charges. He was in critical condition at Seventh Ward Hospital. Five others including Eugene London Annabelle Ewin and Ollie London of Scotlandville were injured and rushed to Independence Hospital where London was listed in critical condition. The driver of the third car was Deane C Richardson 21.

Hurricane Found in Atlantic

A 100 mile per hour hurricane was located today by a Navy reconnaissance plane in the Atlantic about 2,500 miles east-southeast of Miami. The hunter plane, based in Puerto Rico, reported from inside the storm roughly 1,000 miles east of the Windward Islands as a ship noted heavy seas and a falling barometer in the quiet Atlantic. The TIROS weather satellite had spotted the area Wednesday in the central Atlantic and transmitted cloud pictures.
