Man Wanted for Petty Fraud in Local Jail
J. M. Crane, alleged petty fraud expert, was returned to Monroe last night in the custody of Deputy Sheriff Frank Cline and jailed to face a felony charge of obtaining money by a confidence game. Authorities say Crane operated widely across the nation for years, eluding detection until victims realized the scheme days after his departure. Crane was arrested in Temple, Texas, after a merchant recalled a warning about a man matching his description.
